The theme of the book, "Drums Of War," depicts The Drums of war book transformation of a young twelve year old boy named Charles E. King during his enlistment with the American Civil War.

Initially upon volunteering as a drummer boy, Charley feels the excitement, honor, glory and patriotism that is expected from a naive child, but he is inevitably transformed by /5. Drums of War is a historical kid’s book. It is about a 12 year old boy who enlisted into the military as a Drummer. What I like is that as a kid, I can relate to the story and put it into perspective.

What is nice about this is that you can almost see what Charlie sees as /5(6). Drums of War is a realistic look at the fall of society. It follows 3 main characters through the events that lead to violent protests, martial law, and a family's struggle to survive.

The story really is "ripped straight from the headlines" and follows a path I fear this country is currently on.

The story is focused on a war between beasts and humans, but it does not look boring. I liked that the protagonist has written Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" for the beasts. I found some spelling mistakes, but nothing serious. Read more/5(57). Drums, set in Edenton, North Carolina, has been called the best novel written about the American Revolution.

The author notes that in this book the main facts of history have been followed except in two cases: the Bonhomme Richard did not sail from Brest but from Lorient; the incident of the vagabond in Chapter XXXV did not occur at Brooks's /5(37).

What made the experience of listening to Drums of War the most enjoyable. Really enjoyed the fact that this book feels like what's going on in the country right now. Liked the interjections of news people giving reports and updates which again really sounded like what we are hearing today. Also liked the fast pace of the story.

Taken from Drums by James Boyd (first published, ) The time is about five years before the War for Independence. The place, North Carolina/5. Soldier of Fortune was a pretty poor piece of work, but I am glad to say that it was not enough to put me off the series altogether.

In my review for Soldier Of Fortune I mentioned that I thought that Rawson had promise as a character, and I am pleased that he has flourished in Drums of War. That it is not to say that this is a brilliant piece of fiction, but it is definitely a better novel /5. Drums of War I did not expect this book to be that great.

No monsters or zombies, but it was a fantastic read with human monsters and a believable future that is scary in its own right. Looking very much forward to the next part in this series. flag Like see review/5. Star Trek - The Next Generation: War Drums written by John Vornholt is a book where the "bumpy heads" make an impression and action-adventure mixed with a little mystrey and intrigue keep your attention till the book is typical of Vornholt where he takes sometime and adds a Trek twist to it the the case of "War Drums" it remineded me of the 5/5(5).
